Camping in North Georgia :)
Unicoi State Park
How It All Started
This was a spur-of-the-moment mini vacation for the two of us. We have the dog (Turkish) and wanted to do something that he could be a part of. So we decided to go camping. Heather has never been camping before so the pressure was on to make this trip go as smooth as possible. I figured North Georgia was a really pretty place to visit. Unicoi State Park to be exact. Mountain air, big green trees, pretty lakes, no traffic lights, no road rage. Well, there was road rage... on the drive up. We hit three traffic jams within the seven hour drive, so I was ready to get there and crack a beer ASAP.
Finally... We Made It
We got there just in time. My blood was boiling so I was ready to set up camp and chill. As we were driving around looking for camp spots, we realized that we were going to have to park the truck and tote all our stuff to the actual camp site. GREAT! So we worked up a sweat carrying all our gear to our camp site.
Now I have all the stuff at the site ready to set up. The sun was starting to set so I had limited time to get everything set up. Being the smart guy I am, I pre-set the tent the day before so I would be ready to pitch the tent in a timely fashion. Aw ya... the tent went up smoothly and all parts are accounted for.
Getting hungry
Now that the tent is set up, it's time to put the little grill together so I can grill me my steak dinner. Took me some time to put the grill together so we didn't eat till late night. It's all good though. Had a great dinner.
Getting Sleepy
This being Heather's first camping trip... I bought an air mattress. I wanted her to be as comfortable as possible. I bought a bike pump so I could pump it up. I couldn't use the bike pump without figuring out how to actually get the air in the mattress. Now how the hell am I going to blow this thing up? Aha... cut the hose on the bike pump. What a great idea. Jammed the hose into the mattress and began pumping... still pumping... still pumping... This went on for a really long time but it was well worth the sweat and cussing.
Passing Out for the First Time
This being Turkish's first time sleeping "outside", was quite funny to deal with. Every damn little noise that echoed would somewhat freak him out. He was beginning to piss me off. We all finally got used to our surroundings and passed out.
