Back in Action
Wow! It's been a really long time since I've updated my blog about our house. Here are some new photos of what we've done to the backyard.

My folks came to visit us for a weekend just to have some company. While my dad and I were pressure washing the driveway I asked my dad to go set up a fire pit. So as I finish washing the driveway I step to the backyard and my dad made a sweet design out of the concrete blocks I had laying around.

We love the new flooring... all the bitchen and bleeding sure paid off. Thanx a bunch to my folks for helping. We sure learned a lot and had some laughs. Now the only thing left is to install the 3/4 round to go around the baseboards. I'm taking a break.

Okay... We are back for day two and we are feeling the pain of being on the ground all of yesterday. Time to finish up the hallway then move into the dinning area. As you can see we have some doorways to deal with... arg. We took a piece of cardboard and would make a door template. We would then trace that out onto the flooring board and jigsaw cut it. This means we made a few cuts here and there until the piece fit properly. As we entered the dining area we finally figured out how to properly put it all together and we are moving right along.
We are in the studio now... Finally! We are super tired but still having a good time and laughing at our stupid mistakes. All in all we learned a lot and had a great time working together. There were times we got frustrated but that's expected from two short tempered kirbys on the job.

You can see we have quite the task ahead of us. I am excited and the blood is flowing. I'm ready to get the show on the road. We've never installed laminate flooring so this should be quite the adventure. I can see many frustrations that may take place along the way.
We still haven't really figured out a good method to laying the flooring so things aren't going together all to well. Now we have the living room laid and have moved into the hallway. It took us about two hours to finish the living room and three hours to get around the first corner and threshold. If i could summerize this project with one word it would be "improvise"... well one more... "knees".
Just some random shots during the flooring install weekend adventure. The table saw sure helped us out a lot. I got it from my grandfather (on dads side) in Connecticut. I got lots of tools passed on to me from my grandfather. My dad sure hooked me up by bringing them all down for me.
